There’s a universal truth when it comes to writing emails, and that is this nobody has ever read an email and said to themselves “I can’t wait to see what happens at the end”.
Emails, any business writing, for that matter, aren’t mystery novels.
What they are, are a piece of communication whose sole purpose is to get the message across.
Therefore, put the bottom line on top, or rather the most important information, which is exactly what I didn’t just do in this video.
Now, if I did, here’s how it would look and sound. Start with the bottom line on top.
That is, put the most important information first, because the sole purpose of business writing is to get the message across.
That way, everything that follows will support your main idea.
Because no one ever read an email and said to themselves, I can’t wait to see what happens at the end.
